Capricorn Tarot Reading: Don't Seek Revenge

Snow, darkness, and one glowing stained-glass window full of golden coins. That is the Five of Pentacles, and two figures trudge past that window with their heads bowed, one leaning on a crutch, the other hunched under a shawl. Most readers will tell you this is you, locked out in the cold. I read it the other way around. Capricorn, look at who is standing outside the light. The ones in the snow are the ones who wounded you, and they are walking past a warmth they can no longer reach.

The window is the silent witness here. It has watched every unfair word and every slammed door, and it stays lit anyway, on the side where you are standing. Take what fits and leave what doesn't, because you steer your own life and the cards only show the weather. But notice what neither figure is doing. Neither is knocking. Whatever they took from you, they may be paying for in a currency that never appears on a receipt: the cold, the isolation, the sudden quiet in rooms that used to answer them.

You did not push anyone out there. Nothing about this picture asks for your hands. There is a reason you are on the warm side of that glass, and it takes the next card to show it.

Breathe out for a second. The Star is the card where the shoulders finally drop. A pale blue sky, a great golden star with smaller ones scattered around it, and a figure kneeling at the edge of a pool, pouring water from two vessels at once. Two streams, two places, one patient motion. That is the shape of what is happening around you. In one place, you are being refilled, slowly and without applause. In another, out of your sight, accounts are being settled that you never had to open.

While you rest, a debt is being collected. While you sleep through a night you thought would never be peaceful again, a door you never touched is closing on someone else. Back here, you drink. Out there, they feel the draft. Starlight is a good teacher for this. The light you see tonight left its source long ago, and it arrives without a sound, without asking whether you noticed. The quiet ranks at your back work the same way.

They do not need your supervision, and they do not need your anger as fuel. Every hour you spend polishing the perfect payback is an hour the water stops running into your own pool. Hold one word in your mind as we go, because I will ask you for it at the end. Someone has to sit at the center of all this stillness, and the final card makes that someone impossible to miss.

The one who leads this is you. The Queen of Wands sits upright on a throne in a yellow gown, the staff held straight, a black cat settled at the foot of the seat. Nothing in that posture is rushing. Put the three cards side by side, Capricorn. Snow outside a glowing window. A kneeling figure and a river of starlight. And now a ruler who has no need to raise a voice. Together they tell one continuous story.

Those who hurt you are out in the cold. You are being restored beside the water. And you are seated, composed, in command, precisely because you did not stand up and swing. Revenge would trade your power for a moment of noise. In a good game, the strongest piece is rarely the one moving, and the whole board shifts around it. The staff stays upright, the cat watches the room, and consequences may arrive on their own schedule.

Your job is smaller and harder than revenge: keep your name clean, keep your attention on the life you are building, and let your composure be the loudest answer in the room. If you do answer, answer with results. Back at that first window, the lamp is still burning. The snow keeps falling on whoever cannot reach it.
